Survived Week One.

School's alright.

Actually not. I have like tons of work to complete including 4 still life drawing, 1 self portrait, 1 2-D pictorial work, a reading to do on "The Simile of The Cave" and a project already.

Bah.

And apparently we have to go to the beach to do some sand sculptures for 3-D Design and Volume. Oh god.

Drama is at all time high in school. Got "interesting people" here and someone's been singled out as being the ugliest girl.

Anyways, this blog will prolly collect dust cause I am swarmed with work. So no updates until um, you see one.

ADM FOC 2009.

I met up with some of the forum people beforehand at Boon Lay MRT before heading off to ADM building. About 7+ or so people arrived with their barang barang and one of them brought a suitcase.

Arrived at ADM building and we told to take our temperature and collect our goodie bag. There were 8 groups (Giger, King, Poe, Stoker, Lovecraft, Hitchcock and some others I cannot recall) and I got into Giger (apparently, Giger is some painter of sorts where the aliens from Aliens took inspiration from, but who cares).

My group is awesome except for this irritating, trying-too-hard-to-impress guy (he ended up winning the best freshie award though. Go figure).

Anyways, we began introducing ourselves, playing ice-breaker games, coming up with cheers and all that jazz. After that, we were told we have to design our own (alliance) flag and you guessed it, this irritating guy decided it was his time to shine by taking charge of the flag! Woot! Wee! So creative! Clap clap! Bleargh.

When we're done with that, we proceeded on to the auditorium to listen about the beauty of MacBooks. Of course, I was sold by the time the speaker was done with his first point. Most of the time I was OOHING and AAHING to all the features he introduced.

Lunch next! Not very impressive though, machiam SFI food.

After lunch was a series of games. Like guessing games, feeling things around while blindfolded, and broken telephone done in drawing style and sorts. And we did (or at least tried to learn) a choreography to Flo Rida's "Elevator" a la SYTYCD. It was so fucking hard and I officially hate that song and (learning to) dance.

I was getting a bit bored with the whole itinerary cause it was like Orientation Camp 101. But after dinner was where the fun began.

We were brought back into the auditorium, where I thought there was going to be a speech by a representative from UMB Corporation (it was stated in the indemnity form) but no! Instead, we were interrupted by a viral video featuring a mad scientist and his insane quest "for the betterment of humanity" followed by smoke and a string of people dressed in dark hoodies (we got the awesome hoodies in the end) carrying a dozen of so wine glasses filled with what I think was apple cider.

We drank it and it was reveal that the drink contained a virus (like how cheap of a storyline was that, but I fell for it anyways. So fun!) and we needed to find the vaccine or something. We were then blindfolded and brought outside holding onto each other's shoulders like a chain.

After removing our footwear and still blindfolded we were brought around the school playing memory games, longest human chain, drinking disgusting concoction of parsley and celery (ugh).

Finally, we're brought to the top of ADM building, still blindfolded. While waiting, my AL (alliance leader) brought me back of the group, meaning I was the last to go (whatever I was supposed to do). I was like, "Shit, I think they know it is my birthday today".

When it was finally my turn, they brought me to this mat and asked me to sit down. I did and they splash me with cold water, asked me to lie down, cross my hands across my chest and shout, "世上只有妈妈好". And with that they pushed me down (what I assumed to be a) make-shift water-slide. So I slid into a water puddle and they asked me to remove my blindfold. People were holding flashlights shining into my face and I could not make out anyone there.

"Is today your birthday?"

"Um, yes..."

"WOOOAAAHHH!~," they cheered and started splashing me with water and sang me a birthday song.

I returned back to my own group and they also sang me a birthday song, I was quite touched lah. We all dried and changed up and went on a bus at 1am-ish....

...to Costa Sands resort. Where we resided for most of the nights.

End of day 1.

I guess...

... it is time for an update.

First of all, I would like to give a BIGGGG shoutout to Desmond, Yang Meng and Yong Sheng for the lovely present (which I totally love love love), and their great company over prata at Jalan Kayu.

Also, a BIGGGG shoutout to Alv and Col for Perfume's album! Although I haven't received it yet, I would like to take this chance to say thank you!

*****
I received my Mighty Wallet which I still haven't used cause it looks so nice and pristine in the packaging.

Bought Shiina Ringo's "Sanmon Gossip". Also La Roux, Little Boots and Stateless' albums. Stateless album was on 40% discount (HMV Summer Sale), so it went from SGD 28.50 (yikes!) to SGD 17.10 (yay!).

*****
As most of you know, I managed to get into NTU. And, tomorrow is the orientation camp.

I am not particularly excited - I don't really enjoy camps and its ways of promoting camaraderie. I'd rather stay at home and nuah, or in my case, work and earn me some moolah.

But I guess I have to go in order to know as many people in my course as possible. Apparently, I hear that having contacts in very important in this course, or so they say.

Worst thing is the length of it. It's 5 days and 4 nights, like a freakin' field camp man. And we're going to sleep on the floor! The cold, hard floor! Bah. No smelly pillow too. It does not help that the theme of the camp is L4D. I swear I will SLAP any witch that comes charging at me, and pray that they can endure my tirade of expletives.

Bash night theme is boho chic. Or is it hobo chic? Oh who cares.

Sian, I don't even feel like typing properly now. Whatefs man.

See ya guys on Saturday, I hope. Wish me luck!

Shows.

As if I didn't have enough shows to watch already, I decided to preview more.

-Make It or Break It
-Virtuality
-Hawthorne
-Personal Affairs
-Nurse Jackie
-Psychoville (intro from Colin)
-So You Think You Can Dance Season 5 (psycho-ed by Colin)

Haven't watched the first 4 yet, but Nurse Jackie turns out to be pretty good. It's more Grey's Anatomy than Scrubs but without the tons of melodrama. Psychoville is warming up to me after two episodes - having Dawn French in the show is always a plus for me.

Finished the first season of The New Adventures of Old Christine and How I Met Your Mother. TNAOOC fares much better than HIMYM, in my opinion. TNAOOC started off slow and weak but it slowly picks up from there and then I went on with that show like it was The Big Bang Theory. The season finale was freaking hilarious.

HIMYM was ok, although the leading guy is starting to get on my nerves. I don't why but I just want to strangle him everytime he gives himself some sort of self-explanations to make him feel right about himself. I think I will follow up on season 2 when there's nothing to watch.

Also finished the entire 2 seasons of Big Bang Theory. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the show, I love it to bits.

Come True Blood, download faster. Season 2 is already out...

MUSIC.

Yup, no more stock. And the album hasn't been released yet.

Decided to drop The Black Eye Peas album because the album is tres SHITTY. Only the track, "Rock That Body" moderately passed. The rest of the songs are very similar sounding - I swear the first 4 tracks were done in a day. Please go back to Elephunk/"Hey Mama" kind of sounds please.

Added in Regina Spektor's new album. I know her from "Fidelity" as with everyone else and her new album "Far" sounds very good from the previews from iTunes. I especially love "Folding Chairs" from her. Surprisingly, her first single "Laughing With" sounds pretty meh.

Just purchased Daniel Merriweather's debut, "Love & War". I am not really that crazy over his vocals - Daniel can't really touch Jamie Lidell in terms of vocals. I compare him with Jamie Lidell cause they both belong to the more soulful/raspy vocal genre. But what lacks in vocals, he makes it up with great songs. "Change", "Chainsaw", "Cigarettes" and "Red" are just amazing. Smart boy teaming up with Adele on "Water and a Flame", so-so song with great lyrics.

Overall, a good solid debut from Merriweather. I would expect nothing less from a Mark Ronson production, who also worked on Winehouse's "Back to Black" album.
